For Birth(1867-1908), Death,(1869-1908), Marriage(from July 1840) records send self-addressed stamped envelope, exact dates, full names and $2 per copy. Certified copies only.
For Wills, Estates, Guardianships it’s 5 cents per page, add $1 per page for a certified copy. It’s always a good idea to call first to see if they have info on the person you are looking for. Make check/money order payable to “Ottawa County Probate Court”. **NOTE** The Ottawa County Home “Poor House” or “Infirmary” records are not kept at the Probate Court. They have been moved to the Center for Archival Collections (CAC) at the BGSU Library in Bowling Green, OH. The County Home records contained in the Registers [1872-1968 2v/2r (#20-21)] include the age, residence, and name of the person. A notation was made in the register when a resident died. During the 1800’s deaths at the County Infirmary were not always recorded at the State level and death certificates were not yet issued. The township assessor was responsible for collecting information relative to births and deaths and then recording them at the Probate Court. Many times the assessor did not complete the task; thus, an official record of a birth or death may not exist. Recorder’s Office (419)734-6730 For Deeds, Mortgages, and Leases you need the Volume/Book number and Page number. It’s $1 per page. They will NOT look up the name/volume for you, you would have to go in person or ask someone in the area, or hire a title searcher to go to the Recorder’s office in the court house. Make check/money order payable to “Ottawa County Recorder”.
